The Ratings: An explanation of AR (Attack Rating) / DR (Defense Rating)

Granado Espada uses a stat called AR/DR to determine the amount of (bonus) damage or accuracy towards a weaker or stronger opponent. Base Attack and Defense Ratings are determined using the formula of Character Level/4. So a level 92 character gets a base stat of 23 AR/DR right away. Additional AR/DR can be given by equipped weapons/armors and it uses the formula Equipment Level/4. So let's say a level 92 character wearing a level 92 armor gets a total of 46 DR.

A character with a higher Attack Rating attacking a target with a lower Defense Rating gets bonus damage. The bonus damage starts from +4 more AR onwards (refer to the table below). If a character with low AR attacking a high DR target, he gets an accuracy deduction causing the attack to miss.

It is important to get good +AR/DR equipments to enjoy certain bonuses. If you plan your leveling places well enough, you can fully utilize these bonuses and at the same time spend less on the equipments. Sometimes, this additional AR/DR are used so you can train a notch level than where you're supposedly be leveling.
