In Focus: Kneeling Shot stance

Written by gyl on Friday, November 30, 2007

Aiming
Shot
Firing ATK
A markmanship stance using the Pistol. A pistol's short barrel results in its poor accuracy. This stance attempts to compensate for this weakness.

Required Weapon:
Pistol

Characters that can use this stance:
Brunie Etiene, Catherine of STR/DEX/INT, Grace, Stock Musketeer

Character level requirement:
24

Granadosource's take:
Aiming shot is a the rifle's Standing Shot counterpart for pistols. Aiming shot, as its name suggests, allows the user to be able to inflict more damage with a decent critical hit rate to boot. Since pistol pulls accuracy down, Aiming shot compensates it with its extra +25 Accuracy at max stance level. Compared to Freestyle stance, Aiming shot boast of the extra critical hit rate sacrificing a little attack speed and the ability to evade attacks. It is also possible to OHKO (one hit KO) targets in this stance).

PvE-wise, Aiming shot doesn't really have a hugh difference compared to Freestyle shot but since the extra fire power from more accuracy bonus, it allows you to AFK train better. Its skills are geared towards a single target dealing a comparable amount of damage but the only downside is that it lacks the ability to knockback targets. Serpent Sting is very efficient in inflicting Poison Status to any target, this extends Aiming Shot's usefulness in PvP. Double Firing is a good damage dealer and it is spammable as well. Snap Shot isn't really a good AoE but it is enough for you to clear little number of mobs before they accumulate. Zero-In is just a perfect finisher as it allows you to further increase your damage to 1,500% at skill level 10.

Stance Bonus:
1: Accuracy +1, Serpent Sting

In Focus: Kneeling Shot stance

Written by gyl on Thursday, November 29, 2007

Kneeling Shot
Ranged ATK
A kneeling stance for the rifle. It has very good accuracy with a long range but forces the user to remain immobile while firing.

Required Weapon:
Rifle or Bayonet

Characters that can use this stance:
Auch Infantry, Catherine of STR/DEX/INT, Grace, Stock Musketeer

Character level requirement:
24

Granadosource's take:
If you think Standing Shot is more damaging, go with Kneeling Shot stance and you'll get more kick to every rifle bullet you send to any target. Kneeling Shot stance renders you immobile and not being able to attack anything directly close to you. It is still possible to AFK using this stance though, you have to set the patrol setting to Hold mode (ctrl+H) so your character will shift to another available target if the original target goes directly near the character in Kneeling Shot stance. Compared to its standing stance counter part, kneeling gives more chance to connect on a critical which is allows your rifle to further its destructive power.

Kneeling Stance, allows you to further increase your range. You can click on farther target and still manage to shot it. This is great when you're set up in sniping spots (stairs, cliffs etc...). Kneeling Stances can also be used to lure monsters towards your direction and at the same time maintain a safe range between you and the monster. All of the Kneeling Shot Stance's Skill are one-target type of attack, though with the exception of the 2nd skill (pierce), this stance allows you to maximize the damage potential of your rifle.

In Focus: Standing Shot stance

Written by gyl on Wednesday, November 28, 2007

Standing Shot
Ranged ATK
A basic standing stance for a rifle. It has both accuracy and speed.

Required Weapon:
Rifle or Bayonet

Characters that can use this stance:
Auch Infantry, Catherine of STR/DEX/INT, Grace, Stock Musketeer

Character level requirement:
1

Granadosource's take:
Standing shot is a stance that doesn't really need any introduction. Anyway, as a musketeer or a rifle user it is inevitable not to use this stance. Standing Shot gives the following as bonus after maxing the stance: Accuracy +30, Critical +9%, Attack Speed +8%. This allows rifle user to always achieve 100 Accuracy making it stronger than pistols in terms of damaging. The strong fire power of rifles is its strong point making one hit killing a possibility. The only downside of using rifles is that it is slow and don't have a real Area of Effect damaging skill.

PvE-wise, Standing Shot is perfect for AFKing and Power Leveling low leveled Characters. Birdfall is perhaps an underrated skill of the Standing Shot stance but it is actually very destructive. Combined with the Levitation Stance's Reverse skill, any flying unit can fall down within seconds with such a spammable skill as this one. I haven't really gotten a good grasp of Blind Flash but so far I've been using it on normal mobs and it works wonder as blinded enemies really misses you even with out evade. In PvP, Blind Flash actually works well against Pistol users allowing Rifles to out duel them. Covering Fire is the Rifle's only AoE attack but its small Area of Effect radius and long recovery time makes it a bit useless for mobbing. Head Shot and Precision Strike is a rifle's bread and butter in terms of dealing real damage. 500% and 700% of damage from a rifle is very destructive. This is a great tool for dealing damage on Raid Bosses or simply hunting mini bossses in the world of Granado Espada.

Stance Bonus:
1: Accuracy +1, Birdfall
2: Accuracy +2
3: Accuracy +3, Critical +1%
4: Accuracy +4, Critical +1%, Attack Speed +1%, Blind Flash
5: Accuracy +6, Critical +1%, Attack Speed +1%

Is It Worth Maxing Stances?

Written by gyl on Monday, November 26, 2007

"It it worth maxing a stance?"

It's wierd right, we got so many stance but only a few of them needs to be maxed as a pre-requisite for a certain vet stance. A quick answer to the above question is YES. A number of stances are worth maxing and some are just good to train for the extra skill damage. Some stances has a really good stance bonus which can range from +30% Attack Speed to +30 Accuracy.

Maxing all stances aren't really required but they give good stance bonus and further improve that stance's skill damage. An important thing to remember when training stances is that you should prioritize the main stance you'll be using. A stance says a lot about your character and their role. A Coimbra Trooper for example got Provoke skill and 7 HP and has access to the Defender Stance. This goes to show that it is important to plan out your characters growth and see to it that you prioritize maxing the stances intended for that character's role. The example goes to show that Coimbra Troopers can boast of its Tanking ability and so High Guard should be prioritize as its main stance so as you can target the Defender stance later on. Other stance helps in the growth of your character as it adds versatility to their game. This allows them to switch from a defensive to an offensive stance or from a tanking stance to a mobbing stance.

Are various stances worth it if they're maxed? Yes they are but you should take into consideration how often you're going to use that stance and will it be economical for you to stick with that type of weapon in the later parts of the game. You should take note of a certain character's role and see to it that they max the stance they will be mainly using.

Here's a list of what should be maxed for a vet stance:
Plow Guard = Sidewinder
Epee Garde = Advanced Garde
High Guard = The Defender
None = Stave Guard
Esp = Incantation
Illusionist = Anathema
None = Close Encounter
Evocation Element (Fire, Ice, Lightning) = Domination Element (Fire, Ice, Lightning)

A look at the Fighter's Melee Stances

Written by gyl on Saturday, November 24, 2007

If you're new to Granadosource, the site already tackled almost all of the Fighter's Basic Stances. Below are quick links to the various melee stances for a fighter. I've been receiving emails about doing stance reviews/analysis for all the other characters. A heads up, I'm already working on them. (Yey!)

Escrima
Blandir Cruz
Roof Guard
Plow Guard
Middle Guard
Sabre Garde
Epee Garde
Heaven and Hell
Hack and Slash
High-Guard
Back-Guard

Random Rant: I hope they allow the oiled body to be worn by all the other male stock characters or even throw in a buffed oiled body for fighters! Bulging Muscles on The Defender stance - 300 anyone?

Granadosource's 100th Post - The Pursuit of Happyness

Written by gyl on Friday, November 23, 2007

I've been playing Granado Espada ever since I had it downloaded in May of 2007. It was fun and thrilling as I go about with the game. Exploring the beautiful landscape design and creating over a dozen characters to fill and serve as a decoration in my barracks. The land scape was amazing if you take a second to look around (at high resolution and graphical settings). Slowly, it became evident that Granado Espada before isn't the same as it was when I started out. As more and more people started playing the game (which is a good thing!), the way the game is played has changed dramatically. New rules has been set, as the battlefield isn't enough, war has been taken into a much fearsome stage - the economy. Prices suddenly skyrocketed and all of a sudden everyone's asking for nine digits of vis (that's like xxxM vis) for an item. Bots instantly flooded low level training grounds and you'd rarely be able to make out a normal player along the swarming bots of patrolling back and fort. For months they were able to do so freely and managed to stock up on probably more than twelve digits of vis to be sold. After some time, action was taken and their numbers went down. Though the bots have lessen in number, a new cause of head-ache took over. I'll mannered player who has small regards on Online Gaming Ethics. They'd run around training areas and take over good spot you long coveted. Then came people randomly PKing you and causing roughly five to ten levels of your hardwork down the drain. The weekly maintenance was supposedly for the server to rest, this is understandable since they're simply machines that do need time to recuperate as well. Though it is a good procedure, what comes after it is horrible. Even at the lowest setting (considering that your connection is at least decent) you'd still experience random lagspikes that can cost you to lose a loot perfectly waiting for you to pick them up. If this causes head-ache, then I won't bother going further to Colony Wars. It was reviewed that the game is a total grindfest. It was indeed! Training your character till vet takes around a couple of weeks of full grinding. Upon hitting vet status, you'll be needing to spend GPoints to upgrade them to the next level then you'll have to grind some more (grind to long, its as if you were training three new characters to vet). Playing nonstop for hours doesn't guiarantee you a solid amount (or even a rough number) of good loots which you'll be needing for your vets. Then it will jump right back to the stressful skyrocketing of prices.

Granado Espada is a game. It's supposedly fun. The Pursuit of Happyness isn't dependent solely on the game itself. I may have pointed out what I feel is what makes the game stressful and frustrating but it all boils down to the character of the person(the gamer) and how he will go about the game. It is not the game that gives you happiness. It is the way you play the game. Do not frustrate yourself on overpriced weapons, instead go join a fun Faction that definitely suits your taste and playing style. Don't fret on high leveled people who are actually bots, or the inequality that is sometimes caused by hacking or what not but instead go explore the game and the artistic landscape design it has stored for you. Don't get jelous over dominant faction, remember Rome eventually fell. Don't be annoyed with the game's drop rate, instead go do quests or do raids or missions with your friends. Granado Espada is an enjoyable game. It is fun. Despite what has happened, what is happening and what will happen next, never stop trying to pursue what makes you happy.

Earn more money through Golden Well

Written by gyl on Tuesday, November 20, 2007

It isn't rocket science to determine that you can really gain profit from Golden Well and Bellem Boxes. Though after the recent patches, the use of Golden Well has been unpopular leaning towards a not good investment or a not practical way to be earning money.

Many people believed that there isn't much profitin using the Golden Well and selling Bellem Boxes anymore but actually its still a decent way to earn extra income (take note that this relies largely on a server's economy).

Golden Well is located on Channel 1 of Thueringenwald Lakeside. It is directly outside the City of Auch. It is played like a lottery and it pumps out Gold Bars and/or Bellem Boxes (but mostly the latter). To play with the Golden Well simply open the inventory using Alt+V (so you can drag an item out of your inventory) and drag and drop any amount of Gold Pieces, around 40-50 should do, (common drop in Torsche's Mansion or bought from the Precious Ore NPC in Auch) on the well. Be sure to bring around 5000+ Gold Pieces to score more in the Well. Rinse and Repeat.

At certain point, you can hit the jackpot! Jackpots means that you can get a random amount of Gold Bar(it is said to score 1 Bar per 2000 pieces). A Gold Bar sells for 150,000vis to any NPCs. It's not possible to hit a jackpot of 100 Gold Bars which obviously results to 15 Million Vis!

The real profiting power of the Well are the Bellem Boxes! You almost always get bellem boxes from the well and so that's an instant profit (well not that instant actually). Anyway here's a rough calculation that should easily explain how the money making process goes:

1 Gold Piece = 165 vis
4,000 Gold Pieces = 660,000 vis

Dropping 40 gold pieces each time has has a chance to get you a Bellem Box.
Ideally 4,000 Gold Pieces should yield you 35-40 Bellem Boxes.
If you sold it for 17,000 vis in Market Manager to atleast get yourself to Break Even.
The Gold Bars should get your profit going.

Take note that the above calculations are for example only. It is advisable to get to atleast around 50,000 Gold Pieces to get a desirable amount of income. This assures you that you get enough Gold Bars to offset the lost you'll get if you don't get the ideal amount of boxes and the price. Also, do take note of the current price trend in the Market Manager NPC and strategize on which day or week to sell your wares.

Black or White? A sneak peak on two new rNPCs

Written by gyl on Saturday, November 17, 2007

To those who can't get enough of the up and coming version 2.4 of Granado Espada. Here's a quick peak at two new gents that will be gracing us in the new patch. I'm not sure if you can get both of them (I believe you have to choose between them) but both are freaking cool. I think they are now my favorites putting Adelina the Pirate aside.to

Here they are:

Edward Jameson
Initial Level 60

STR: 7
AGI: 7
HP: 6
DEX: 5
INT: 3
CHA: 5

An immigrant from Brestia, and 2nd Lieutenant from the Brestia Special Army. Older brother of Gavin, fiance of Selva. Word has it that he was slain by Montoro, when in fact Kurt Linden saved him in the previous war. Although he was saved, a huge portion of his memory was lost due to brutal experimentation by Montoro. All he remembers is that he has a younger brother and a fiance. He wants to find the Regency in order to regain his memory.

Kurt Lyndon
Initial Level 60

STR: 7
AGI: 7
HP: 6
DEX: 5
INT: 3
CHA: 5

We call him 'The Count of Montecristo.' True, this gentleman in that could wear the black trenchcoat and long blond hair sets out a mysterious effect on his persona. There had been circumstances on his profile as a unit commander/captain since he was the adopted son of Sir Lyndon. His tactical genius was unmatched in the battlefield, and Sir Lyndon was threatened by his growing influence. Eventually, his father plotted to have him assassinated. However, his plan did not succeed, and Kurt escaped, fleeing to Los Toldos. He currently leads the Barons in Los Toldos.

Doesn't Kurt's story sounds like bad ass? XD Edward kinda sound a bit like Cloud Strife of FF7.

The not so best news ever..

Increased Drop Rate Week: 15 November 2007, Thursday – 22 November 2007, Thursday!

GE is so stingy!” “So many monsters, so little items!” – We heard you loud and clear!

Drop rates will be increased today right after the scheduled maintenance and it’s at the maximum level we can afford without compromising the game economy.

So far I haven't noticed much of a difference. I think without having a good knowledge of each item drop's chance rate then we won't be able to judge wether the drop rate did change or not. I wonder what the maximum level we can afford without compromising the game economy is... XD

Anyway, have fun the whole week and don't expect too much on the buffed drop rate. The best thing I got so far was a clean Claude Baudez Nique Pistol ZZZZzzzz.

On a farther side of the fence, dish out a click on Orcalia's Life in GE Blog's new article. I prolly should start bashing other blog-spotted people's blog to get mine notice. XD Kidding. Heck who cares on getting spotted.

A while ago one of an old Pachelbel player's quitting because of what he claims as injustice. He got a certain vet char deleted right after maintenance. Hacked? GM's work? I dunno.. he started broading to sell his account and quit GE full time. Ranting that bots that are rampantly growing, vis sellers and buyers that never gets apprehended etc... and an honest player getting a vet char deleted just like that. Point here is, as much as possible don't take GE (or any other online game) seriously. Remember, you still have a real life outside those pixels. Granado Espada has been on for more than five months now and unlike before everyone is so into making their characters the best looking or the strongest spending a lot of resources on it. It's okay to do that, seriously, but you guys should not forget that a game should be fun and it should be played to have fun.

Cheers!

How's a Double Drop Rate Weekend?

Written by gyl on Thursday, November 15, 2007

The above image is a quote from Hrin about them planning a double drop rate event on a weekend. Though they're still waiting for IMC's approval, I'm already keeping my hopes up for such an event. Think of how many Gold and Diamond Coupon you can abuse on that one event or if Rion Hollow or Laboratory Block FT is racking you 70M per run can double to a whooping 140M or more. I believe more than the items you can get, Double Drop rate encourages people into playing the game some more. I personally experience a long drought of nothing but Healing Drops and/or Pure Talts. It is freakin' annoying if you get a longer no-item drought (even more annoying that Brunie or Emilia's Voice Overs).

Speaking of which I hope they aren't serious on not realeasing certain RNPCs. I'm still keeping my hopes up for my Adelina the Pirate (I'd never settle with a fake one - the one wearing just the costume), Soho the Wind and my Panfilo the Battlecook!

I'm still amazed as to how much the prices of various shields turn out. Going back to the "Of Shields" article I wrote before, there isn't really much noticeable difference between the DEF of a high level shield and a low level shield. I'm currently experimenting on certain-monster-type-damage-reduction shield which is really yielding neat results.

Anyway, Won't a x2 EXP, Stance, Drop Rate make your Christmas Season more jolly? x4 or x10 is glorious!! >_<

Gamespot's verdict on HG:L (Hellgate: London)

Written by gyl on Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Gamespot Score: 7.00 Good
Hellgate: London has plenty of neat ideas, but many of them aren't executed as well as you'd like.

The Good
* Gameplay can be supremely addictive because of the way it lets you collect tons of items and ugrade your gear
* Good-looking graphics, especially on DirectX 10 machines.

The Bad
* Most ranged weapons really lack "oomph"
* Plenty of technical glitches can get in the way
* Story is clumsy and not written or conveyed very well.

Hellgate: London is a likeable action role-playing game that answers the question "What would happen if you took all the loot lust from Diablo and fit it into a first-person shooter?" OK, maybe you weren't asking that question, but Hellgate is an interesting game. It will probably come into its own after a few more patches, but right now, it has almost as many issues as strengths.

From GameSpot.com

I've tried playing Hellgate: London in a LAN shop and I was amaze by the quality of the design. I was impressed with the overall feel of the game and the number of character types you can create. I tried playing both ranged and melee characters and can I just say that using ranged characters has this really wierd feeling. The game is really nice and after playing it for the first few hours you can easily decide whether to stick to it or not as most of the game's features are found in the first few hours of gameplay.

Even though GameSpot gave Granado Espada a sucky 4.0 (though it gets a 6.9 from other critics) I wouldn't bother shifting to Hellgate: London. Not only it will require me more time (GE already does eat a lot of time alread), but I grew to love and enjoy this "tedious quests and little payoff make this Korean massively multiplayer online game a real grind"-game. Maybe its because of the AFK-able gaming system that allows you to actually go on with your real life without the need to worry about getting your characters left behind (and sometimes if you feel so lazy training to get to that next costume!). Anyway, below are vital stats from Hellgate: London and Granado Espada. Pretty nice turn outs XD.

Teaser: Granado Espada v2.2

Written by gyl on Tuesday, November 13, 2007

It's only a couple more weeks until we get to see the latest update in sgGE (and expect a couple of GigaBytes more of patching and download). Anyway, I've been searching for decent infos on future rNPCs, Item NPC, etc... and I end up finding this video. I'm sure most of you guys have seen this but I'm still going to post it for those who haven't seen it yet. If you got interesting informations about the up and coming patches/versions do drop a comment. ^^(Can I just say that I can't wait to get my hands on that dog-loving Viki. *ahem*ahem* step aside Torsche's Catherine)

If you're still experiencing the Run Time error do refer here for a quick fix.

On the Run Time Error Poroblem

Written by gyl on Monday, November 12, 2007

Still experiencing the MICROSOFT VISUAL C+++ Runtime Library ERROR?

I've been receiving a minimum of two to six emails a day regarding this problem and how to fix it. As I said in the past article, wherein I addressed the same issue, you simply have to set all of the in-game setting/configuration to High. It is rather vague for some so let me supply you with a screen shot of what I mean.

All you have to do is to go to Granado Espada Config and set Effect under Optimization to High Specification. If that still don't work try updating your MS Visual C++ by going here.

Halloween In-Game Event Extended: Tiburon’s Scarecrows [25 October 2007, Thursday - 15 November 2007, Thursday]

Note: It's quite possible to farm for level 64 Enchantment Chips and Diamond Coupon with new accounts /gg

Did you ever noticed...

Written by gyl on Thursday, November 08, 2007

...that there's a very helpful and interesting support FAQ in the sgGE Official Website? And it got really interesting stuffs that you really don't need to knw (well some poeple who's really really new to online gaming would find it useful). Heck, check it out if you're curious. I bet some people would still ask questions in the forums that is already in the FAQs.

The Support FAQs can be found here.

...that Andre Janzurr's Fantazzztic Poses got some serious typo going on. Now, I wonder where did Viki got the name for his vet stance (Testis >_<)

...that Granado Espada programmers and designers do put a lot of conceptualizing into character details. Check this out:

Picture came from Glacie in this thread.

...you can get bald if you're too frustrated on GE's current drop rate. Or lay-off the over upgrading as those glowing weapons might probably be cancerous O_O. Kidding, this is perhaps a problem with the layers in the game. Pretty much like the one above.

Picture came from Hekamaru in this thread.

Sneak Peak on an up coming new RNPC: Viki

Written by gyl on Wednesday, November 07, 2007

Viki is a much awaited rnpc because of her Catherine-like (Summoneer) ability. The only difference is that he summons bosses instead of Torsche's dolls.

Viki
STR 4
AGI 5
HP 4
DEX 5
INT 5
CHA 5
Personal Skill : Healing
Stances:
No weapon: First Aid, Fortitudo
Pendant: Amicus, Testis(Vet stance)

Stances Description
Amicus :
Level 1 - Call Turrydog : Cost 50 SP, no cast time.
Level 10 - Summon Hill Giant : Cost 300 SP and 1 Hill Giant Summon Stone
Level 20 - Summon Ararat : Cost 600 SP and 20 Otite Chips.

Testis :
Level 1 - Call Turrydog
Level 10 - Summon Treasure Golem : Cost 300 SP and 1 Treasure Core
Level 15 - Summon Tachyon : Cost 450 SP and 1 Moisting Core
Level 20 - Summon Iron Ararat : Cost 600 SP and 30 Otite Chips

If this isn't enough here's a preview of Viki's voice over ^^ For someone like his calibur, I think we'll be getting a much tougher longer (and annoying) quest than Lorch/Najib Combined.
