Words on Premium Shop RNPCs

Written by gyl on Monday, October 29, 2007

I personally can't wait for my Adelina the Pirate, Soho the Wind, Idge the Battlesmith and Panfilo the Battlecook to arrive in sgGE's Premium Shop but all my hopes died down after reading about these Premium Shop RNPCs (well hopefully not all of them) will not be gracing our barracks.

I don't know if you can say that it is official but in a post made by Regional Community Manager Hrin in the sgGE Forums. She said that "
premium shop RNPCs like Pirate Adelina , Soho the Wind etc, IMC will not allow us to release them as they are too IMBA". It totally broke my heart. Though we can still hope as "there might be variations of them under a different name with more balanced stats" might come out.

Now, I'm really tempted to buy a Pirate Costume for my Adelina. I think the only think that made them imbalance is the stances maybe they should tweak it a bit and still release an Adelina the Pirate Premium Shop RNPC! .......or atleast let me get my hands on a Panfilo the Battlecook RNPC!

Actual page of the Hrin's post can be found here.

Of Shields

Written by gyl on Sunday, October 28, 2007

"Shields are tanker's best friend."

We all know how godly a shield stance user can get in a battle field. Paired with the proper equipment, any shield user can take any beating and still manage to emerge on top. But do you know that you really don't need level 100 equipments (or shields, as the article is named after) to be able to withstand heavy beating and still be able to come out with little scratches? A common misconception of people is that they need elite equips to pump up their survivability rate (which in some cases isn't true).

Granadosource will be evaluating shields and at the same time help you make decisions that will make your shield user tougher and spend less on gears.

I've noticed that 10 more DEF doesn't have as much different as the same level of equipment with normal DEF bonus. Shields has been a big target for this observation. I pitted a level 36 Shield against a level 88 Skullic Guard (it has 10 more DEF than the lv36 Shield) and the result only yield a little under 20 points of damage reduction compared to the lower shield.

As a result of this observation, it is advisable to get lower level shield (not unless a certain shield got godly stat) and over-upgrade them the use enchantment chip until you get the desired stat (either settle for damage reduction and block or DR and block stat). This method is a lot cheaper and way easier than going for high level shields which is expensive to chip and is costly if you're going to buy yourself.

Keep in mind that you're getting a good Shield for more DR (since any level of shield only gives 1 extra DR) and more block rate not more DEF rating.

7 Quick View on Fighter Stances

Written by gyl on Thursday, October 25, 2007

1. Sword and Shield
High Guard is perhaps the best choice for Tankers before hitting level 48. It allows you to survive huge amount of mobs while letting other characters deal the finishing touches. Provoke is essential in this setup as it allows you to keep the mobs' focus on your tanker. Back Guard is only good for its mediocre AE skill, other than that you'd want to stick to high guard all the way.

2. Sabres
Middle Guard is a pretty bad stance for fighters as their base stat doesn't allow them to maximize the potential of sabers. The only good thing to train sabre stance is to be able to max Heaven and Hell skills. A sabre skill allows you to hit airbourne units which isn't common in most maps in GE.

3. Dual Wields
Dual Wields are powerful stances as it allows you to use two weapons. This allows you to achieve high DPS (Damage per Second). The stances are all offensive oriented and it allows you to get a lot of stat from two weapons like getting maximum attack speed or enough stun rate to be able to stun-lock a target. As it has amazing potential, a common issue is that they are expensive since you need two good weapons. Dual wields also have a rare skill that allows you to target air units without the need of changing stances.

4. GreatSword
Greatswords are devastating though sacrificing its speed. Slow attacking weapons means that you get less SP regeneration rate (which can be countered with SP pots if you're able to spend that much). Acceleration and other speed buffs would help to maximize the power of a greatsword. A good thing with GreatSword stances is that you can simultaneously switch from a defensive stance to an offensive stance quickly. This is a very handy micro skill to have.

5. Polearms
This is the best choice for mob-control for a fighter but the sad part is that fighter stance can't make full use of a polearm swing. Polearms are like GreatSwords which is very damaging but extremely slow. The good thing with Polearms is that it allows a fighter to damage monsters affected in its small AoE (Area of Effect). The skills is very mob-oriented which is very helpful in high spawn areas. Polearms with stun/fear/freeze etc is very good as it allows you to inflict these status with one swing on like 3 targets.

6. Rapiers
Rapier stances are very convenient as it allows you to switch from an offensive to a defensive stance quickly. Unlike shield stances, rapiers have more skills that is damaging. Rapiers alone allows you to damage monsters in its small AoE. Epee Garde is a very damaging stance that has skills that deals 1k~2k+% of damage. Sabre Garde, the defensive stance, allows you to tank monsters like High Guard and at the same time gives you access to damaging skills. SP regeneration is also not a problem for this stance as the fast Attack Speed bonuses allows you to earn it all back up. This skill is perhaps the best leveling and afking stance for a fighter.

7. Pistol
Pistol Stances are primarily used for AFK training. Pistols allows you to maximize training AFK since you don't have to worry about your fighter running to far out of range that cancels patrol mode or makes the rest of your team run after him. Dual Pistol has a good AoE skill which can stand as your secondary mob control skill though it isn't as strong as Blandir Cruz would you can use it to deal the finishing blows on surviving monsters. Another issue for pistol stances is that pistol prices are always to high and so investing on a pistol should be evaluated carefully.

Faction Feature: Colony War Basics 101

Written by gyl on Monday, October 22, 2007

by Almasy Family

What Is Colony War?

You can consider Colony War to be a kind of huge Faction vs. Faction event, which is currently held every Sunday from 8pm to 10pm (GMT+8). The war will also be announced by an in-game notice 30 minutes before the war starts.

Players that gather in Factions are fighting for 21 territories spread over the whole continent for various benefits.

How To Conquer A Colony?

First of all, what is a colony? Colonies are the pillars that are located on most of the maps that are shown on the world map. You can check if the map that you are on has a colony by pressing alt + z and looking for something called The Faction’s Colony Manager. If there is one, then there is also a colony on that map.

A colony looks like this:

These pillars have enormous stats and unless you are very strong, or using "Valkyrie Crushers" (powerful siege machines that can be bought at the shop and will help you to attack the colony), you will not be able to hit them for more than 1 dmg per hit. This means, of course, that huge masses of families are required to take a colony down, and it will take quite some time to get it down.

There is a slight difference between the very first war on a server, and all future ongoing ones.

Free For All

When the colony war starts for the first time on a server, or if the colony war has been reset in a server, all colonies are Free for All. This means that, once the colony war starts, every Faction on the server is able to hit the colonies.

Occupied Territories

If Colony War has already been active on a server, without a reset occuring, then all territories (colonies) would have been occupied by factions from the previous war. To attack a colony belonging to another faction, the leader of the faction that you belong to, has to declare war to the faction that is holding the colony.

To declare war on another Faction, the leader of your Faction has to buy 'A document declaring war'. You can purchase it at the Reception Hall at the north of Cite de Reboldoeux or at the Villa de Libertad located in City Of Auch. It is sold for 200,000 vis.

Once the faction leader has got one of these, he has to do the following: Open the Menu as shown on the picture, and click on 'Declaration of War'.

Your faction leader will then enter the name of the faction that your faction wishes to declare war on. After pressing 'OK', a timer will start to run for 5 minutes. Once the 5 minutes are over, a message will be shown on the whole server, stating who declared war on who.

Do bear in mind that your 'Document declaring war' will be gone from your inventory now.

After that, all members from the two factions will be in PvP (Player Vs Player) mode all over the continent, except in towns, just as the message states. This means you can PK (Player Kill) all members of the opposing faction as long as they are not in towns.

Please note: All enemy faction members will now have red emblems above them instead of the yellow ones that your own faction members have.

Now you can also attack the colony of the faction you declared war on, though that they will most likely try to keep you from doing that. The faction’s colony that you are attacking will receive a message telling them which of their colonies are under attack, and how many hitpoints (Stamina) the colony has left.

Once the colony’s hitpoints (Stamina) are fully depleted, a notice will be broadcast to the entire server, stating that your faction successfully conquered the colony.

If you wish to end the war with the other faction now, your leader has to open the faction menu by pressing Alt + T and requesting a truce with the other faction.

The opposing faction’s leader has to accept it, otherwise there will be no truce. Should he accept, another notice will be broadcast to the server, stating that these two factions are no longer in a state of war.

Now, What’s In It For Me?

Of course you wouldn’t be doing this for nothing. There are some nice benefits for conquering colonies. The benefits are as stated below:

1. For every territory (colony) you occupy, every member in the faction will receive an additional bonus to their maximum hitpoints. The more territories your faction owns, the higher the bonuses your faction members will receive.

1 colony = 10% bonus

2 colonies = 19% bonus

3 colonies = 27% bonus

4 colonies = 34% bonus

5 colonies = 40% bonus

6 colonies = 45% bonus

7 colonies = 50% bonus

8 colonies = 55% bonus

9 colonies = 60% bonus

10 and above colonies = 65% bonus

2. Aditionally to the max hitpoint bonus, the faction leader will receive a bonus of aditional 5% attack power, and 5 defence for every colony up to a bonus of 50% ATK and 50 Defence.

1 colony = 5% ATK bonus, 5 DEF

2 colonies = 10% ATK bonus, 10 DEF

3 colonies = 15% ATK bonus, 15 DEF

4 colonies = 20% ATK bonus, 20 DEF

5 colonies = 25% ATK bonus, 25 DEF

6 colonies = 30% ATK bonus, 30 DEF

7 colonies = 35% ATK bonus, 35 DEF

8 colonies = 40% ATK bonus, 40 DEF

9 colonies = 45% ATK bonus, 45 DEF

10 and above colonies = 50% ATK bonus, 50 DEF

3. The name of your faction will be shown on the World Map next to every colony you managed to conquer.

4. Once a player enters your factions' territory, a message will state 'Jurisdiction of [FactionName] Faction

5. You are able to warp between your colonies for free by using the faction colony manager

In summary,

- To take a colony, you need a strong faction with as many members as possible.

- Colonys are only once free for all. After that, you have to declare war on the faction that owns it.

- Declaration of War letters cost 200,000 vis and can be bought in Cite De Reboldoeux and City Of Auch.

- Once you declare war, there is PvP between you and the opposing faction members everywhere you go. (Except towns)

- To end a war, the faction leader has to request a truce by using the faction menu (ALT + T)

- Valkyrie Crushers prices range from 200,000 vis to 1,600,000 vis.

- There are many benefits in owning a large number of territories (colonies).

- Last but not least, it’s a lot of fun! :)

Faction Leveling Part 1: How To Get Your Faction To Level 5

Faction Leveling Part 1: How To Get Your Faction To Level 5

by Valhalla Faction at Caravaggio server

Joining a faction is one of the things in Granado Espada that you should never miss out on! The benefits are far too many to describe. One of these benefits is being able to do faction quests. Our article goes into the basics of how to start a faction, getting your faction levels up to the level 50 and then finally, the game plan for Level 51 faction quest.

How To Start A Faction

Not anyone can start a Faction. You will need to gather 200 Family Reputation and 1000 Vis to get the authority to start Factions. Family Reputation can be gained through helping NPCs (Quests).

Sir Lyndon is in charge of handling Factions. He can be found in the Pioneering Office.

Faction Level 1 to 50

All new Factions start at Level 1. For the first 50 Faction levels you can pay VIS to Sir Lyndon to level up. It will approximately cost 500,000 VIS to get your Faction to Level 50. Thereafter, Sir Lyndon will assign you and Faction on a journey to gain additional Faction levels.

Faction Level 51 Quest

Talk to Sir Lyndon again after reaching Faction Level 50. He will tell you about the quest.

Here is the first part of the quest. You have to go to Vegas Javier and find this Great Hill Giant.

The Great Hill Giant will be spawned when the Faction Leader comes close to the bolder at E5. A message will be broadcast via [Notice] to everyone in the server when he is spawned!

The hard part is bringing this guy down within 30mins! Get your faction ready for this:

After defeating the Great Hill Giant, go back to Sir Lyndon and receive a Raid Key and…. Yet another Quest!

For Part 2 of the Faction Level Quest, you will need to go to Prison de Joaquin, The Mohrgus, J7.

Upon reaching location J7, the following message will appear “The door responded when the key was brought near it.” A portal will open for your team! Your mission here is to defeat the boss, Chrysalis.

Overview Of The Game Plan

Important points to take note of:

  • You have to kill Mini Boss: Vladimir at Warp A to open up Warp A. Same goes to Warp B.
  • Split up your raid team to enter both Warp A and B.
  • Defeat Warp C’s Mini Boss: Vladimir to open up Warp D. Defeat Warp D’s Vladimir to open up Warp C.
  • All the above warps will close around ~30secs. Time the kills of both Mini Bosses to ensure that everyone gets through! If not, some people will be left behind.
  • Next up is Enemy Home. You have to destroy it to remove the Rotating Blade blocking your way.
  • Defeat Boss: Dr Fran Moth Mothtein to open up Warp E.
  • Lastly, defeat the last Boss: Chrysalis!

In Focus: Escrima stance

Written by gyl on Thursday, October 18, 2007

Escrima (Fighter)
Melee ATK
A skill for dagger-fighting, also known as the Assassination Technique in Vespanola. It uses swift and continuous attacks and increases the evasion, thus making it advantageous for one-on-one combat.

Required Weapon:
Dagger

Characters that can use this stance:
Catherine of STR/DEX/INT, Lisa Lynway, Soho, Soho the Wind, Stock Fighter

Character level requirement:
1

Granadosource's take:

Escrima is perhaps the most underrated stance for a fighter. It's actually very lethal (especially against Soft Armored targets) with its speed . The stance bonus isn't something shabby, giving 15% Evasion and 15% attack speed further making the stance able to compete with the popular ones. The main strenght of daggers is their speed and the ability to inflict negative status ailments such as stun, poison etc... so it is wise to dwell on that.

PvE-wise and PvP-wise Escrima is average but can be very dangerous when facing soft armored enemies. With escrima you get to attack thrice dealing almost the same number (or probably even more) compared to swords or sabres. Escrima isn't good with controlling mobs but is very good in 1 vs 1 battle thanks to the 15% Bonus Evasion. All skills are also meant for 1 vs 1. Rajar En Recta is a spammable skill that has a -30 DEF bonus which is good against hard armored targets. Baile Soleares is a high damaging skill but the cast time makes it less useful. Ligera Ventaja is an AoE but can be used more of a charging skill to jump right up to an enemy or escape mobs. With 60% chance to stun, it is worth the SP consumption and the effort to aim with it. Ilimitada Sierram, the last skill, has Baile Soleares damage output and negates defense by 30 which makes it a better choice over the 3rd skill. Dagger Venenosa is perhaps this stance's bread and butter skill. 30% chance to poison at level 10 paired with 10% chance to stun dagger is very lethal to any target.

Stance Bonus:

[Singapore] Community Service Event 6: 26 October 2007, Friday, 0700hrs-1400hrs

Written by gyl on Tuesday, October 16, 2007

Hi guys!

As some of you may already know, our very first Community Service Event commenced on 27th March 2007. There were 12 heroes who rose to the occasion and turned up for the event. The kids absolutely adored them. I’ve blogged about the outing over here. The next few outings had more heroes joining us in our quest and we brought the kids to Road Safety Park, a Fire Station and around Bedok.

The beauty of Granado Espada is that it centers around the themes of chivalry and heroism. Protecting the innocent, championing the weak, defending the helpless. But my point is… why stop at these things at a game level? Why not bring these aspects into real life as well?

For Singaporeans out there: Katong Special School needs you heroes to help in Sports Day. Think of it as a real life quest. With as the real life NPCs issuing out this quest:

Quest Name: Babysit The Children Again!

And so, my dear Vespanolans and friends, I throw down that gauntlet to you: Don’t just play GE. Live GE.

In Focus: Blandir Cruz stance

Written by gyl on Monday, October 15, 2007

Blandir Cruz

Melee ATK
A slashing stance for polearm. You can attack several enemies at the same time within a large radies.

Required Weapon:
Polearm

Characters that can use this stance:
Alejandro, Catherine of STR/DEX/INT, Claude, Coimbra Trooper, Idge, Idge the Battlesmith, Jose, Ramiro, Reboldoeux Soldier, Stock Fighter, Tiburon

Character level requirement:
24

Granadosource's take:

Blandir Cruz is very good stance for fighter (though some other RNPC excels due to their stat). It is a very balanced stance; Polearms itself has moderate to high damage which offsets the slow attacking speed of the weapon. It's long reach and wide swing allows you to hit multiple targets which makes this stance a very good mob controlling stance. The stance bonus gives a good amount of percentage for both worlds. 25% attack speed, 10% crit and 10% block allows you to be on defensive and offensive at the same time.

PvE wise this stance is very good towards handling mobs. Normal attacks on this stance allows you to hit multiple targets. The skills in this stance are all mob-oriented except for the first one. Gigante Marcha allows you to inflict more damage on mobs and at the same time causing knockback. This is essential when you're protecting weaker characters. Tierra Choque is similar to casting spells as you have to indicate where to target. It works like Gigante Marcha and it has really good knockback. Blandir Cadena is a single target skill that allows you to shift to an offensive gear using this stance. It has a little long animation that you can time with other spells. You can use it to skill-lock on a target character.

PvP-wise, Blandir Cruz isn't as good as it is on the PvE end. Since you'll barely be able to hit 3 targets at ones (though some situation in CW makes it possible), it loses out on more 1 vs 1 focused stances. Blandir Cadena is the only real PvP tool in this stance (it is arguable that the other two stances can be used).
