Granadosource's take:
Greatswords got the highest ATK Power for all melee weapons. It is a bit faster than Polearms but packs more damage. Plow Guard is your first Greatsword stance that offers a balance between offense and defense. At max level, Plow Guard gives you decent ATK Speed (15%), Crit Rate (10%) and Block Rate(10%) that is already a good bonus for a stance that allows you to wields Greatswords. PvE-wise even though it deals the most on Hard/Heavy Armored monsters it still deals comparable amount of damage to other armor types. It has good Boss Skill in Vertical Slash, allowing you 1.2k% damage at skill level 10. Highlander Soul allows you to tank with Plow Guard blessing you with 25 more block rating and 20% more ATK power in exchange for 20% of your Defense. Quite a decent trade off and you can actually get +1 more ATK Rating at skill level 11. Skyliner is a very useful mob-skill and Charge offers a spammable knockback skill for PvP.
PvP-Wise, Plow-Guard is a so-so as other faster and more focused stance outshines it. As it borders both on offensive and defensive without really having a real focus it loses out to a specialize defensive/offensive stance like High Guard, Roof Guard, or Twin Blade etc... Vertical Slash and Charge are good offensive skills to use. I've seen some people use Skyliner in Colony Wars before as the situation allows the skill to hit as much target with one hit.
A good reason to max this skill is that it is a pre-requisite for the Sidewinder Veteran stance.
