On Squads and XP
Written by gyl on Thursday, October 04, 2007There been a lot of questions if being in a squad is faster in terms of earning experience or not. I'm a strong believer that it is so but some tend to go solo thinking that it slows the development of their characters down.
As far as I know, Experience can be gained through killing monsters or consuming EXP Cards. The first one is the most common one as the latter requires you more time before you can even gain as much as killing the amount of monsters intended for it. When in a squad, you earn a fixed amount of the normal experience as long as that squad member is within 20M range (or as long as you can see them when you scroll/zoom out the farthest).
Earning experience in a squad follows the chart below. To explain further, let's say you are in a squad with a total of 8 family members, based on the chart below, you get 30% of the experience you can get as if you kill the monster yourself. The total XP gain of 240% simply explains the total EXP you get from killing that certain monster (it's simply 30% exp distributed to each of the 8 families so when you multiply it, it produces 240%!).
Squad-ing is best when you're in a high spawn area or if you can barely handle a map your level. Training in squad allows you to develop your characters faster. The more monsters a family can kill at a certain span of time the faster the exp gain will be. As for the example of the 8 families, if they can take over a high spawn spot they can cover for the 70% loss of exp by killing a certain number of monsters at the same time thus defeating the thought that being in a squad is a slow way to train your characters!
